Napoleon's German Allies (1) : Westfalia and Kleve-berg by Otto von Pivka and Rick Scollins

Austria's defeat at the battle of Hohenlinden on 3 December 1800 created a powerful vacuum in the area known as Germany, and Napoleon lost little time in transforming this zone into a pro-French 'cordon sanitaire', creating as he did so the Duchy of Berg, which he later united with Kleve. Like Kleve-Berg, Westfalia was also ruled entirely according to French law, and both provided troops for the French Emperor. In this first of five volumes concerning Napoleon's German allies, Otto von Pivka explores the Napoleonic uniforms, flags and standards of Westfalia and Kleve-Berg.

Fully illustrated paperback with 40 pages.

Book serial number MA44.  Price £8.99.

Napoleon's German Allies (2) : Nassau and Oldenburg by Otto von Pivka

On 14 October 1808, Napoleon persuaded Herzog Peter Friedrich Ludwig of Oldenburg to join the Confederation of the Rhine by the Treaty of Erfurt - the military contingent to be maintained by the duchy was set at an infantry battalion of 800 men in six companies. Similarly, Friedrich August, Herzog of Nassau, was charged under the terms of the treaty with co-ordinating and organising the military efforts of all the tiny states of its neighbours. In this fine addition to Osprey's Men-at-Arms series, Otto von Pivka details the campaign history and uniforms of Napoleon's Nassau and Oldenburg allied troops.

Napoleon's German Allies (3) : Saxony 1806-15 by Otto von Pivka and Richard Hook

In the battles of Jena and Auerstädt, where the Prussians were crushed by Napoleon, the Saxons excelled beyond comparison. Amidst the defeat and confusion, they withdrew in full control, with regular pace and band playing, stopping to engage whenever the enemy grew too close. Recognising the martial value of such troops, Napoleon swiftly took steps to assure a military alliance. In this absorbing addition to the Men-at-Arms series, Otto von Pivka explores the organisation, campaign history and uniforms of Napoleon's formidable Saxon allies. This detailed text is accompanied by numerous illustrations and eight superb full page colour plates by Richard Hook.

Book serial number MA90.  Price £8.99.

Fully illustrated paperback with 40 pages.
